Opinions....

Anywhere I go there are always people providing their opinions about this or that. It could be a true request from a friend or acquaintance. In recent years, its been an unwelcome offer.
"In reality, no one cares about your opinion" Man how true that is!!
Are my 2 cents really so important to give?
In the little and big things, the scriptures tell us to bring it all to God.
"cast all your anxieties on him because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7)
In small instances, I am usually able to say something that helps someone move forward. Its kinda cool to be able to help and be a part of a decision being made but even in those times, how often do we consider giving the kind of direction that comes directly from God?
WWGD or HWGHI??
I am not always thinking of The Word first. Heck, its such a small state of affairs, I often think that what I have to say will be enough and vise versa. I take what someone said and use it to maneuver thru the little glitch ahead instead of seeking God.
You send them on their way and pat yourself on the back. Yay me!!
So often, I am not working with a full deck. My experiences, my past is my testimony...Sure! But it is not the end all be all. How did I get here? It wasn't because of any wisdom or discernment that I may have. "I am nothing apart from God." (John 15:5) He handled his business with me and brought me out of my situation. I couldn't do that for myself. Maybe I allowed some one to influence my way of thinking. That way was not always the right way.
"8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits[a] of the world, and not according to Christ." Col. 2:8
Worldly advice comes from everywhere because we think that what we know is worth giving or passing to others. It can be helpful but it isn't as helpful as the one God has already provided.
"Our opinions don't matter" Ed Taylor, Calvary Aurora #edtaylor, #calvaryaurora #colorado a great pastor once said in a sermon.
As a believer, I must look to The Word for guidance in this world. As I do this, I will excrete that divine wisdom naturally when the opportunity presents itself. Not only for me but others too. Because it is already in me, I will be able to discern very quickly if I am being taken for a ride or I can use it to help some one else along.
This doesn't happen without practice and diligence in growing familiar with Gods Word. I must exercise the ability to move thru the files of my memory to pull up that spiritual number, and in turn passing it onto others.
"5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him." James 1:5
In todays world, Social Media influencers, even people in the church (spiritual actors), world leaders, proposed laws, etc. can impact our thought processes. We shouldn't give so much credence to all the opinions that infiltrate our daily lives. Its not wise nor is it helpful. Often times these influences suggest that violence, self care, my choice and many other thoughts damage and maim society. I/We hurt it when we give our piece of mind instead of Gods.
In the grand scheme of things, looking to the world to make life altering resolutions isn't Gods way for the believer. Conclusions are not giving honest and true vibes. Gods word provides love, truth, sincerity that is valid for the times we are currently living in.
I find much comfort in that because I don't have to think about it.
Hugs,
Mauds
